Normandy, high above the cliffs of the Colleville Cemetery, where more than 10,000 American soldiers lie, we meet Marie-Therese Lavieille co-founder of Les Fleurs de la Mémoire (Flowers of Memory). It is here Marie tells us why it is important that the French people never forget..."freedom is important and we must show our gratitude to the young men who gave their lives to give us back our freedom." In 2000 Marie & husband Claude started the French Adopt-a-grave program, a volunteer organization that adopts graves of American servicemen who died during the war. The volunteer group with more than 3400 members place flowers on the graves when American families can not. A tradition now passed down from generation to generation.
